VoxNote turns your voice recordings and audio files into text, key points and action lists. Transcription runs on your phone. This page explains exactly what stays on your phone, what can leave it, and why.
1. The essentials
VoxNote works without an account: no sign-up, no email address, no password. Your recordings, the audio files you import, your transcripts, summaries, tags, folders and settings are stored only on your phone, in the app’s private storage. We don’t receive them and can’t read them.
VoxNote contains no ads, no analytics and no tracking tools. It does not use the advertising ID.
2. Microphone and audio files
The microphone is used only while you record a note; Android asks for permission at your first recording, never before. Audio files you choose to import are copied into the app’s private storage so the note keeps its audio. Speech recognition is done on your phone by a Whisper model (whisper.cpp): no audio and no text is sent to us or to any third party for transcription, summary or translation.
3. Model downloads
The Standard transcription model is included in the app. If you download the optional Precise model (Premium), the app downloads a public file from Hugging Face (Hugging Face, Inc., United States), the public host of the Whisper models. As with any download, their servers see your IP address and the requested file; none of your audio, notes or identifiers is sent.
4. Premium purchases
Payment is handled by Google Play; we never see your card details. To check that Premium is active on your phone, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., United States), which receives an anonymous identifier created by the app and your VoxNote purchase history (product, date, status, country of the store). No audio, note content, tag or folder is sent to RevenueCat.
5. Notifications
If you start a free trial, VoxNote can schedule a single local notification 2 days before the trial ends. It is created on your phone; permission is requested at that moment.
6. Sharing and backup
A note leaves your phone only when you copy, share or export it, to the app or person you choose. If Google backup is enabled on your phone, Android may include the app’s data in your Google account backup; this backup is managed by Google and we have no access to it. Audio files and downloaded models are excluded from this cloud backup: only your notes’ text, tags, folders and settings can be included. When you move to a new phone with Android’s direct transfer, your audio files can be copied as well.
7. Your rights and data deletion
As we don’t hold your data, deleting it means deleting a note in the app (it first goes to “Recently deleted”, where its text and audio are kept for 30 days so you can restore it, then erased; “Delete now” and “Empty the trash” erase them immediately), clearing the app’s data in Android settings, or uninstalling the app. For any question, or to exercise your rights (GDPR, CCPA) over the purchase data processed by RevenueCat, write to contact@comparados.fr. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France: CNIL, cnil.fr).
8. Children
VoxNote is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly process their data.
9. Changes
We will update this page, with the date above, if the app changes the way it handles data.
