Recut Resume helps you adapt your resume to a job posting. A resume contains personal information, so this page explains exactly what leaves your phone, who receives it, and how long it is kept.
1. No account
Recut Resume has no sign-up, no email address and no password. On first launch the app creates a random identifier (for example rcv_3f9a…). It is used only to count your tailorings and to link your purchases to them. It is shown, shortened, in Settings so you can quote it to support. In full, it is your recovery code (Settings › Recovery code): entering it on another phone links that phone to the same balance and Recut Pro. Keep it private. Our server only checks that the code exists; it never creates an account from an entered code.
2. What the app sends to our server
- Importing a file or photo. When you import a PDF, a Word file or photos of your resume, the file is sent to our server to extract its text, then deleted at the end of that request. Text PDFs and Word files are read by our own code. Scanned PDFs and photos are sent to our AI provider (section 4) to transcribe the text.
- Match check. When you tap “Check my match”, the text of your resume and of the job posting is sent to our server. Only the job posting is sent to our AI provider, to list its keywords; our server calculates the score of your resume itself.
- Tailoring. When you tap “Tailor my resume”, the text of your resume and of the job posting is sent to our server, which sends it to our AI provider to list the posting’s keywords and suggest rewritten bullets. Our server then checks each suggestion against your resume and calculates the score itself.
- Cover letter and interview prep. When you ask for a cover letter or an interview prep for a tailored version, the text of that resume version and of the job posting is sent to our server, which sends it to our AI provider. Our server checks the result against your resume (numbers and names not found in your resume or the posting are flagged; examples are kept only if they appear word for word in your resume). The result is saved on your phone.
- Job link. If you enter a link to a job posting, our server downloads that public page to read the posting. The link is not stored.
- Score updates. When you keep or remove a suggestion, the resulting resume text is sent to our server to recalculate the score. No AI is used and nothing is stored.
Every request includes your random identifier. All connections use HTTPS.
3. What our server keeps
- Not your resume. Our server does not store the text of your resume or of the job posting.
- An encrypted copy of each result for up to 72 hours, so that if your connection drops while you wait, asking again returns the same result without using another tailoring. The key needed to read it is derived from the text of your resume and of the posting, which our server does not keep. It is deleted automatically after 72 hours. For a match check, the stored result is the list of keywords of the job posting only (no resume content), and its key is derived from the text of the posting.
- Your tailoring balance, linked to your random identifier: remaining tailorings, end date of an unlimited pass, and a history of balance changes (date, type, and a one-way code of the resume and posting pair, which cannot be turned back into text).
- Purchase records: product, date, transaction reference, and whether it was a test purchase; for a Recut Pro subscription, only the end date of the current paid period (read from RevenueCat).
- AI cost per identifier over the last 30 days (type of request, cost, date — no content), used only to apply the fair-use limit of Recut Pro and the monthly limit of free AI features (reading photos or scans, match checks).
- Abuse-prevention counters (number of requests per identifier and per IP address in a time window). The IP address is stored only as a one-way code, and expired counters are deleted automatically, normally within 2 days.
- Anonymous daily totals (number of requests, AI usage and cost), with no identifier and no content.
Our server is hosted by o2switch in France. Like any web host, o2switch keeps standard web server logs (IP address, date and requested address) for a limited period for security purposes.
4. Our AI provider: OpenAI (API)
Resume and job posting text, and the scans or photos you import, are processed by the OpenAI API (OpenAI, L.L.C., United States). Data sent to the OpenAI API is not used to train or improve OpenAI’s models. OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse, then deletes it, unless a longer period is required by law. We ask OpenAI not to store these requests in our account (no “stored completions”). Only the content of your request is sent to OpenAI, not your identifier.
5. Purchases
Packs are one-time purchases and Recut Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, both processed by Google Play. The app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., United States) to handle purchases; RevenueCat receives your random identifier and your Recut Resume purchase history (product, date, status, subscription period). After a purchase, and when a subscription renews or ends, our server asks RevenueCat for the purchases linked to your identifier, adds credits to your balance or records the end date of your subscription. We never receive your payment details. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Google Play › Subscriptions (also reachable from the app’s Settings); your resumes, versions, letters and interview preps stay available on your phone after it ends.
6. What stays on your phone
Your resumes, the job postings you paste, your tailored versions and your choices are saved only on your phone. PDFs are created on your phone and shared only where you choose. If Google backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include the app’s data in your Google account backup; this backup is handled by Google and we have no access to it.
7. No ads, no tracking
Recut Resume contains no ads and no analytics or tracking tools. We do not sell or share your personal information.
8. Your choices and rights
- Delete your resumes, postings and versions at any time: Settings › “Delete my data on this phone”, or uninstall the app.
- Our server holds no resume. To access or delete the balance and purchase records linked to your identifier, write to contact@comparados.fr with the ID shown in Settings. Deleting them also deletes any remaining tailorings.
- You may have additional rights under the laws of your state or country (for example the right to know, access, correct or delete personal information); write to the same address to exercise them.
9. Children
Recut Resume is intended for job seekers and is not directed at children under 13.
10. Changes
We will update this page, with the date above, if the app or our server changes the way it handles data.
